Well, there are such a large number of hazards associated with modern living that can have the result of us losing a significant amount of our hard earned money if things do not go according to the plans that we have laid out for ourselves.
The biggest of all of life’s hazards is one that is sadly, an inevitability; namely, that we are going to die one day, with the result that our nearest and dearest will not bee in a position to benefit from our future income or attain the assets which that income would have brought the family. This is the most extreme of all loss scenarios.
However, there are many others, which, although clearly not as irreversible, can still have devastating financial ramifications. If we are unfortunate enough to have a car crash without possessing the minimum third party cover and e are responsible in law for the causation of the accident we will find that we are very soon the defendant in a law suit which, depending upon the extent of the damage to the other vehicle and the life and limbs of the driver and passengers of the other car and, perhaps, the passengers in your own car, could amount to literally millions in damages.
Furthermore, we would be likely to face the ignominy of criminal proceedings that could result in an extensive fine and even, in the worst case, incarceration. Of course, it is against the law to drive a motor car without a valid policy of insurance.
